can anyone out ther explain to me how the Taipan can raise and lower their daggerboards by remote? Did I dream about this? Are those experimental drugs from the 70's catching up with me ?

Each daggerboard has a whole drilled through it at a point that will be just above the deck when the board is in the raised position. A line is run between the two daggerboards and dead ended on the outside of the board with a figure 8. The trunks have grooves that allow the knot and line to go down into the hull when the board is in the down position. To raise, you just yank on the line for the high side and it pulls the board up.

Jeff.

In addition to this if you really wanted a pull down you could take a line off the top of the board, say it handle, and run it thru a second fairlead to pull it down. Buit I don't know of anyone that does this.
