Hi! My husband and I are planning our sixth trip to the BVIs. This time we're bringing along our son and his family, which includes his wife and two boys, 6 and 8. Because of this we're going to go with a Cat for the first time. I'm looking for, No. 1, good charter companies as well as ones to stay away from. Also, even though we're very familiar with the area, we've never gone with kids before. Any suggestions of what's worked well, et cetera?

Thanks,
Barbara

Barbara
Barbars et al,
To the best of my understanding, you cannot bring animals into this British Island without a quarentine. This time may be longer than yor stay,........you did mean a kitty cat ,...right?
Bruce
St. Croix

Barbara,
1. No problem,....charter out of St. Thomas.
2. Take Kitty on boat
3. Go Sailing!
4. As you know, St. Thoms is a stoned throw from West End.
regards,
Bruce
St. Croix

Barbra,

We have chartered with both the Moorings and TMM, and had great experiences with both companies.

You'll be glad you are getting a cat this time. The extra space and ease of handling are worth the difference in price. The charter boats are heavy though, a little like driving a tennis court. This spring we had a Bahia 46 by Fountain Pajot. Great boat, lots of space, 110 power, (blenders) all the nav equipment, washer/dryer, ice maker, AC etc, etc. I was seriously considering disapearing on that boat for good.

Have fun

Matt

Barb,

I have chartered cats twice in the BVIs, both times with Sun Yacht Charters (Stardust). We chartered their Norseman 43 both times and it was great for 4 couples. They are located in Marina Cay, I think, near Beef Island. We flew into St. Thomas, took the ferry to West End and the charter company sent someone to pick us up and take us to the marina.

Les Gallagher
Inter 17R USA 104
"little yellow boat"
