Well, you can probably tell I'm desperate and still waiting for the weather to allow some sailing....but:

As you're getting all those boats ready for this season's sailing.... and even though some of you may already know this.... there is an easy way to get fittings, like nuts and bolts, which are corroded tightly together, to come loose.

After you've cussed and screamed...after you've cracked your knuckle a time or two...after you're sure the parts will have to be cut off ...... the trick is to apply a small amount of Wintergreen leaf oil to the corroded joint and threads.

It acts as a penetrating oil.

Once applied, take a break for fifteen minutes or so...and when you return, you will likely be amazed at how easily the nuts and bolts come loose.

The only issues you need to be aware of are:

1. If you apply the Wintergreen before you crack your knuckles and so on, the parts will likely come apart easily and you probably won't have an excuse to practice all that colorful language ......

2. Your hands will smell "minty fresh" for the rest of the day.....

3. The oil is natural and won't pollute....

4. It is available at many pharmacies.... and may even be found in the cake section of some grocery stores.

However, don't drink the whole 1/4 oz. bottle.... or smear it all over you. It says it can poison you, cause nausea, vomiting, abdominal discomfort, diarrhea or skin rash.

I wonder if that warning is on cans of WD40, which doesn't work nearly as well...????

Is this posting another sign of cabin fever...???

Sounds like a miracle. Wonder if it would work on corroded parts and joints of people, too.

How about the oil from a freshly cooked peperoni pizza.....loosen your nuts and clog up your guts.
