Has there been any effort to coordinate? Case in point: Miami-Key Largo is the same weekend as Gulfport Multihull.

Pete, the MKL regatta is a very old very established event and well pre-dates the GYC regatta. You should probably pose the question to your club.

It's my opinion that all events try to avoid conflicts, but conflicts do occur (the spring is a popular time of year in FL). In the case of the GYC event it's traditionally been a F16/A Cat only regatta and since those fleets don't typically do the MKL (with the exception of the Miami A's) it hasn't been an issue. I also doubt that if the GYC and MKL events didn't conflict it would make much of a difference.

I will bring this up Thursday evening at our meeting.

Along these lines, does anyone have the calendar for BK's "Harken Series". I can't find it at his site.

It's up:

Harken Series Schedule

It's the ones in RED.

The Daytona & Jacksonville regattas are also part of the series but they have not submitted their dates yet so they are not on the list.

Please note how busy April is.

Coordinating a season's sailing schedule is always tough ....

Here in the "mid-atlantic" area Hobie Div11 and CRAC have been working for years to try and produce a yearly schedule that works for everyone. Add to that the CBYRA's "Big Boat" series, Annual YC's One-Design Regattas, and Junior's racing schedule and it gets complex. How it is accomplished here is that Hobie Div11 scheduling meeting is attended by Open Class representatives (Mark Schieder) and we all work together to try and organize the schedule ... note that some years we are more successful then others ... but it takes alot of work and communication ... starting in September/October of the preceeding year.

Which is still another reason I Yearly hound everyone to get their event schedules quickly to me in order that we have one CENTRAL location showing all events.
Lots of folks drag their feet, but the most active fleets get their news out quickly,
Rick
