The "Object" was designed by Tim Kirkham who has been a long time A sailor in Victoria and currently sails a Taipan. He went through 3 shapes which were subtle developments on each other. He was always near the front of the Australian fleet so they are world class for speed. There are two listed for sale on the Australian A site and I'm familiar with both - sailed against one of them last weekend. As with most things you pay for what you get - so the dearer of the two is the better boat - in my opinion.

Thanks. They look like a good design for Adelaide conditions.

Are the boats on the A class web site Different designs?

What in your opinion is the best design?

Thanks

I haven't sailed in Adelaide - only Kingston SE and Port Lincoln. I assume you mean in a sharp chop or bigger waves. They have a lot of bouyancy along the keel like all the modern designs. I think both are the later designs. The more expensive boat is tidier having been professionally sanded faired and painted just before Xmas. Any of the modern designs are fast - the nut on the tiller has a far greater influence.............
