Rick has a current passport, so I am sure he could get into Texas, but please contact him personally. We do not use this forum to promote our seminars, any more than we want other people promoting their businesses here.
Thanks.

Hopefully, I won't upset my wife, Mary, by telling you that I definitely can do seminars almost anywhere -- I am about to head out to Saipan for one.
Just check this website and be sure to check out the FAQ Page and particularly the "How to Host" Page:
http://www.sailingseminars.com
By the way, we have in the past put on several in Texas -- Dallas, Corpus Christi, and Houston.
Thanks,
Rick

Well, Mary, you may run me but let me weigh in on this topic.

You can put me down for attending that seminar if it is held in Texas. I plan on attending the seminar next year with my wife in Key Largo. However, if it is held in Texas, count me in. With two young kids, leaving for Key Largo in April or March can be done but it means I have to be nice to my mother-in-law (so she will stay with my kids).

It's okay, Bob. Rick tells me he is allowed to do commercials because it is his website. As I keep telling people, I have absolutely no control over him -- or his website, either.

Rick White seminar in Texas! Count me and my crew in. Just pick a weekend without a regatta and he should have a grand showing of catsailors.

I have resurrected this thread in hopes of determining if anyone is seriously interested in pursuing this in Texas. We don't have a fleet in College Station but I was hoping perhaps one of the other stronger fleets would be interested in hosting Rick and his seminar series. You can count my husband and me in if the series does come to Texas next year. We are but competent cruisers that would like to increase our sailing skill in rapid fashion.

In the event that a seminar series won't be hosted in Texas, can someone give us an idea of the time it would take to drive from Houston area (or Dallas/Fort Worth) to Rick and Mary's place. I don't look forward to the drive but we want to take the seminar series.

Thanks

Hello Trish-

I drove from Ley Largo [Rick and Mary's] to Dallas last year in July. It took from 8:30am to 9:00PM the first day and from 4:00am to 11:00AM the next day. Thats taking the bottom route through Alexandria, LA. to Dallas. From Houston to Key Largo should be about 3-4 hours shorter. Don't ask what mph I averaged but think Texas Motor Speedway... Its divided highway all the way but the toll booths on "Main Street" in south Fla slow you down some but nothing like the road between Homestead and Key Largo. Areas to look for the law between Houston and Key Largo are east of Baton Rouge all the way to Mississippi, Florida panhandle to the big right turn south, all up and down the state of Florida. If you decide to take the western route passing by Tampa; the highway narrows to four lanes and the law stacks up there about six deep to just north of Tampa. I have driven this route from Dallas and Houston no less than six times in the last two years. I10 is NASCAR; so watch the rear as well as the front. Some students this time of year are going 90+mph in packs of four+ all the way to Panama City...

hope this helps,

thom
