This past weekend I struggled a little in one of the races because it started to rain and my tell tales stuck to the jib at time when I needed some help becuase the wind was pretty light. Is there a better product than SailKote to help with this?

McLube works to some extent.

Rather than (or in addition to) spraying something on the existing tell tales, you could change to (or add) yarn tell tales. There is a special type of yarn that supposedly doesn't stick when wet. I'm sure someone here knows what it's called.

I think sailkote is the same as McLube (or is made by McLube)

I have racing yarn on one of my jibs... it also gets wetted down.. and its frays get stuck on the sail when dry...

Back in the early 80's we used just plain old wool yarn and it work great.

I should have mentioned in my original post that I have yarn tell tales.

nananananananan.....nanananananananan.....beeee the ballllllll....

(i.e. feel the boat and learn to sail without the tells and you're 2 leagues above the rest...they're nice when you have them but if you can still do well without, you just gained a huge advantage).

It's easy to grin
when your ship comes in
and you've got the stock market beat
but a man worth while
is a man who can smile
when his pants aren't too tight in the seat!

run across the tramp and punch and swear at the sail! Stand on the boom or spinny pole to unstick them.

None of this will work! Ask me how i know!
