Trevor from Sugarloaf popped down to Mc Crae for a sail today to help me against the PT's cool

Paul From Safety Beach also popped in for a chat but sadly didn't bring his boat frown

Pretty constant 19/20knots but very lumpy.

First Race, Trevor hit the start bouy cry but I managed a clean sweep despite missing a gate and having to pull up while the A's restarted around me. ( not a good time to be caught on port!) It's only taken 3 years but I finally got the hooter for a finish. grin

Second race... My clew attachment (purchased yesterday) failed at the start mad and I had to retire to the beach with a looooong walk back to the club. Trevor got a good start and managed to hold out all but two.

In short, all systems nominal at the back of the fleet: Trevor hit the start bouy and Simon broke something so I guess that would be business as usual grin grin A most enjoyable days sailing nonetheless.

For anyone interested, we're going to see if we can sort out a Sunday sail at Safety Beach before the season ends. I'll post the date here if we set it up.

Cheers

Simon,

Well done getting the hooter in your division. cool

It's such a good feeling and really lifts your spirit. grin

Was the clew fitting failure related to insufficient strength alone ?

Somers cancelled Saturday's racing with consistent 25 knots and 30 knot bullets. eek Since the start would have been offshore it was a wise decision. Some of the Hobie 16's went out for a bit of fun with lots of white water and some spectacular capsizes. cool grin smirk

Regards,

Peter.

Hi Peter,

Shame your racing was cancelled. You guys seem to have had a bad run this season with too much wind frown

I put on one of those fittings that snap locks, not sure what they're called, but I wanted something that was quick and easy to fasten for those days when the wind is blowing the sail about. It seemed to just fall apart when I was cranking on for the start. I guess it wasn't heavy enough so I've gone for the next size up.

It was good to get the hooter at last. Just one of those days where it all comes together I suppose. The boat felt fast from the start and I made some good decisions for a change. I seemed to be getting the hang of the new sail but I think that doing the states was the major factor. Chasing all the fast guys round the bouys is a great way to learn smile particularly in a class that is as friendly and encouraging as ours.

Cheers

Thanks Brian... It was indeed.

Peter,

How about the 19th April for "Safety Beach reprised". Trevor is interested and Rob will also make the trip if we can get a date organised.

If the weather suits I can offer McCrae again as a base for a big day out, or I'm happy to just meet there.

Check your diaries and let me know. If the date suits everybody I'll let the locals know we're coming.

Cheers

Rob,

I've tried to free up another Sunday before the season ends but haven't been able to. I'll still go that day. Maybe you guys can organize another one that suits you all.

Enjoy the birthday party.

Cheers

Hi Simon,

I wont be able to attend on Sunday down at Safety Beach, The Drought Buster has my attention over the weekend - You should try to drag yourself up from the Peninsula for at least one day!

Hi Guys,

Would have come but our club AGM was on the weekend and as a committee man I am of course required. Sailed in the club race on Sat but didn't go anywhere for Sunday. Looks like you guys had a good time with some nice results for the Mozzies cool

What happened to Will?

I've hung up the tiller for the season frown and have prepared the list of repairs and improvements for the winter break. never a short list it seems cry

I'm planning to get stuck in early so I'll be pestering you guys to sail a few of the winter events. smile

Cheers
