I'm wondering if anyone has any discoveries on requirements to register cats in Maryland?

The issue is that the DNR(Dundalk branch) claims anything with more than 7.5hp OR over 16 feet must be registered.

How do I know if my vessel must be registered in Maryland?

Your vessel, whether commercial or recreational, must be registered in Maryland if it is:

* Equipped with any kind of primary or auxiliary mechanical propulsion; and

* Used in Maryland most in a calendar year.

But then in the list of fees it states $24 for vessels over 16ft or 7.5hp.

I talked with Keith(Annapolis) earlier today, who didn't think was necessary and I also emailed Mark Schnieder from CRAC this evening and he stated that no registration is needed in MD. So, this is all reassuring.

Anyone ever have any problems?

Thanks.

not with the boat...a boat trailer in MD however can be very problematic...

Are you coming to the party Saturday night?

off topic, I live in CT, but, I've owned 4 catamarans and I only registered the first one, and I've kept them either on a private beach or on a trailor in the yard. I've never had a problem, never been hassled by the CG. Sailed them in CT, MA, RI, NJ, NY no issues.

Well I went to the Bel Air DNR today and got it titled in my name. The lady working verified that they don't need to be registered. Thanks for the responses.

This summer I don't think I'll be towing it more than a mile or 2 so I'm not worried about registration for that yet.

And nah, no party for me saturday, I bartend on Saturdays.

We're definitely going to see you guys out there at one of these events though. We'll be the guys way in the back.
