There was a post not so long ago whre Wouter made a good pitch about the Ronstan I track and 6 wheel traveler car. After replacing the P19 car with the new model (18 months ago) now looking at another replacement and ready to try the Ronstan system. Has anyone ever removed the track from a Prindle?. Other than the 4 crossbar bolts there are 4 rivets in the front of the crossbar, however, I dont think that removing bolts and rivets will separate the track from the crossbar. ANy help will be appreciated

ps No I wont use the sawzall.

It's part of the extrusion. You could mount an aftermarket track on top. try a search for the other thread there was alot of info in it.

If you wish to change your Main Traveller that bad ...

Locate a used P19 Front Crossbar and strip it of all hardware and dolphin striker. Install the new traveller track on it and install on your boat. A quick "rough" measurement indicates that the Front crossbar is slightly longer (1") but I was measuring the crossbars w/ the storage cover still on in the rain (cold rain!!!) so the measurement is not completely accurate.

Or check w/ Jack at Performance Catamarans and ask if the crossbars are the same extrusion as a Prindle mast .... if they are, locate a bent mast and cut/salvage a "new" rear crossbar from the bent mast

Todd & Harry, Thanks for the responses, I hadnt thought about just removing the crossbar and starting fresh. I think I know just where to find a mast section.

Or use a broken I/N 20 mast and have carbon beams.:)

Reasons not to install the new track over the old one:
Drilling through the old track to secure the new one.
My track has a concave top surface, does not provide a good base.
That Ronstan I beam I think is 11/4 in high, add that to the existing track and it starts to get high, though this may only be a cosmetic issue.
