Unregistered | I can't wait for mine to arrive.
I calculate the extra lift generated by the heli foil shape and increased righting moment from reduced weight aloft is going to give me an extra 5 degrees of pointing ability.... Dont forget to include the increased speed your travler will enjoy (with your onedrop mclube) you will tack faster! NO ONE WILL EVER BEAT YOU!!!! EVER! (EVER).. PS with all this brown-nosing... can i get a LayLine sponsorship? Say... free line and onedrop for life? | | | Re: Carbon spreaders

Posts: 1,449 | Or make them out of pre-preg carbon with a UV inhibitor already in the resin.

Posts: 12,310 South Carolina | I think the bigger concern is the black carbon getting hot in the sun (VERY hot) and causing the resin to lose mechanical stiffness. The only way to help mitigate that is to cure the laminate at a high heat but that only makes it soften at a slightly higher temperature post cure.

Posts: 1,449 | Jake, If you use a higher temp pre-preg and ramp up the cure to 110 - 120degC in the last few hours of the cure cycle I expect the softening would not occurr.
