I have not sailed in a Hobie regatta in over 10 years..I bought an old Hobie 18 and it has the old mast without the plastic tip. What is the attitude about these boats that do not have the plastic top? Do you race in the open class using portsmouth? Or is it still just better to stay away?

In the South we don't care whether you have a comp-tip or not. Only another competitor would protest you and we would kill him if he did.
