Posts: 329 Chicago, Illinois USA | I am getting ready to hit the road this season to do some regattas...the closest of which is an hour and fifteen minutes from my house. Most are 2-4 hours away.
What are some must-have's to bring along?
I already have an assortment of tools, electrical tape, various shackles and split rings, clevis pins, a couple of small blocks (like used on the spin or rudder setup), extra trapeze bungee cord, one-drop, sailkote, and spare trailer bulbs.

Posts: 439 Memphis, TN | If you have a cordless drill, that CAN come in handy...I've been bringing mine with me at the last couple of regattas...I haven't used it at any of them yet, but you never know.
It's a just in case thing, if you have to have it and no one else has one, you're screwed....:)

Posts: 5,525 | How many regattas would you travel to without a spare for your car? The trailer tires rarely blow out, but when they do there is never a replacement available.

Between the two of them, they can fix anything. I may add you to my list; Are you going to Rutland? | | | Re: What's in your box?

Posts: 5,525 | I've never had a problem with the bearings on a beach cat trailer. Larger boats, yes.
The only time I had a blow out was on a Friday night headed to Daytona. . . and on Sunday coming back!

Posts: 4,118 Northfield Mn | I thought maybe it was a hub issue that could be checked pre-road trip. I've got 20-1/2" tall tires, most are a smaller diameter than that. Those little guys are spinning at a very high rpm compared to the vehicles wheels. I'm planning on attending an event that is going to be 2000 miles away, so 4k round trip. I will be purchasing a complete spare hub assembly, and another spare tire for that trip. Maybe even a set of bearings and seals. Just in case. Changing out a hub on the side of the road sucks, but even more so if you don't have a way to repair it yourself when you're in the middle of nowhere at 3am on a Sunday. | | | Re: What's in your box?
