Other classes give us a never ending string of guff about being stuck up and a bit snoby.... I suppose we do need to avoid letting press like this bit from the front page of SA go to our heads.

A-Craze

The hot A-Class keeps getting hotter, with Lars Guck, Pete Melvin, Randy Smyth, Pease and Jay Glaser, and a who's who in the multihull world contesting this weekend's Sailing Anarchy sponsored North American Championship down in Fort Walton Beach, Florida. The Class continues to attract great talent and numbers to all its events, even in this shitty economy - what's their secret? We'll find out for you next week when we interview someone who knows.

I hope you know nobody is serious when giving you guys "guff" about being stuck up and a bit snoby. Most of the A sailors came from another cat anyway, and most sail in other classes on a regular basis.

The guff is just for fun, and maybe the jealousy coming out! I'd have one if I could convince the wife I need two (or should I say 4) cats!

And I think some of the jealousy is because your rules allow some real development, and we like to see what you guys have come up with.

Great publicity being on S/A and I hope the wind is good for the regatta.

That's right, Mike! I look forward to the coverage on SA.

I'm not going to buy an A-cat right now. But I am certain I will join the fraternity sooner or later. It's just a matter of time. And disposable income... grin

Relocating to Dakar, Senegal (West Africa) in August, where I hope to sail Hobies and other beach cats a lot...

Hey, Delta Air Lines is flying to Africa quite a bit now, Dakar being one of the stop overs on the way to other places. Maybe I'll see you over there sometime.

BUT, I have not heard -good- things about the local environment, safety wise, and they are making us all get Yellow Fever shots before we go! And they are telling us not to leave the hotel compound due to safety concerns, kidnappings, muggings, etc.
