We had plenty of time to mull around at Rutland, Mark and Wayne got their sails out, took mine and layed them around on the grass.

I took some pictures with my phone: Mark's Landenberger is on the bottom, my original Stealth Ullman sail is the white 515 one.

No surprise, my pinhead sail is shorter and smaller in all dimensions.

[Darn the limit of three pics per post!]

Then we put Wayne's 506 on top, made by Grant Piggot:

The GP has a larger head, but a smaller foot.

[Note: The two blokes doing nothing while I perilously climbed on my trailer box are Mark and Wayne, they are even smiling for the camera!]

Chaps,

Grant and I spent a while fecking around with the sail!

YOur picture shows exactly what we were setting out to do

1, More area up top
2, thus remove area from elsewhere (down low).

Did you compare the luff curves?

So how do the 3 sails compare/perform on the water?

I've used a Landy and GP mainsail and the GP one is quicker! Not used the oldm smaller Stealth R sail.

Usually Mark is in front, and I'm in the back. But I'm not sure it is due to our sails, it's just that I do break more stuff than anyone else...

Surprisingly or perhaps unsurprising all three sails matter very little with our skill level, I'm pretty sure if you were expert enough then there is a huge difference.

My gut feeling though is the GP is quick but in a very narrow band of getting all things just in the groove. I think my Landenberger was more forgiving of my incompetance but a bit more powered up and draggy if you know what I mean.

At this stage of the game though the Landy is just so much more expensive with the Euro / pound as it is, I guess GP sails it is then.
