Very light winds all week during the Texel Dutch Open. Fortunately today we had our favorite conditions of NW 15-20kts on which we where able to boost our results from 46th to 25th place!
Herbert Dercksen set a new course record of 2:07 with his VX20 (took 5 min. of the old record.
Forecast for tomorrow is variable 5-7kts frown
No clear favorite for tomorrow, a lot of M20 platforms have good chances, Sunnuck's Vampire 20 and an M20 with two adjacent daggerboard wells (1 for straight, and 1 for banana boards).
Good times.

I've got my money on Will and Fraz being first round on the M20V, esspecially if it's a downwind start.

What the hell is that single-hander that went round the lighthouse in 9th place witha texel# of 121? Dart 15 sting???

That is a Dart 18 (no spi) sailed singlehanded.

That guy is having lamp post in his wetsuit as he beat crews like Larsen, Sunnocks and Kenbeek to the lighthouse (after 90 min of sailing) ON ELAPSED TIME and while sailing on a BROAD REACH WITHOUT A SPINNAKER in 8 to 10 knots of wind.

I'm sure all the other boats are spinnaker reaching !

He rounded the mark in 9th place on elasped time, out of 450 boats of which 70% high performance spinnaker boats.

Wow ! Respect !

That is some achievement

Wouter

The live results show that the top 40 boats took about 3 hours to get to the VC....probably meaning that most of the rest will have been turned around there.

I just got back to my appartment after a long day on the water.
An absolute nightmare to get through the surf in the morning, big waves and no wind (never paddled so hard in my life).

A slow spin reach all the way to the VC Mark (1/3 off the course) then no wind at all and then upwind to the bottom of Texel and another spi reach back to the finish.

No idea where i finished, was below 50 just before the calm (the target was below 100).
Full update later.

Will and Fraz took line honours unsuprisingly and finished 35th overall.

Rob Wilson was first overall on a F18.

No relation, but I do know him, we were members of the same club when I still lived in the Netherlands.
