Admittedly, this has never been a popular event with F16 sailors including myself however it is always nice to see who has come anyway and how they are doing.

This years edition of the round Texel sees the attendence of 4 F16's and 3 Spitfires.

(there are also 3 FX-one solo, 2 Nacra 17 2-up and 4 Nacra 17 1-up)

The teams are (Starting with the Spits)

Henry Robert White / Edward Redfearn UK (Gold fleet)
Joshua Adam Hunt / Freddie John White UK (Gold fleet)
Hans Buist / Willie Balvert NL (Silver fleet)

Stephen Dorfner solo DE (Viper F16; Silver fleet)
Chris Paul Sproat / Georgina Burk UK (Viper F16; Gold fleet)
Geert Ruesink / Raymond van der Haas NL (Blade F16 ; Gold fleet)
Martien Kooyman / Frank Marle NL (Blade F16 : Gold fleet)

So basically the top crews in either are Robert White (son of Reg White) and Sproat/Burke (well known in the Spitfire fleet and now on a Viper F16)

Their overall standing in the Dutch open bouy race week are as follows (where 89 participants have put in at least one race:

33rd / 89 Sproat / Burke (Viper F16)
51st / 89 White / Redfearn (Spitfire)
82nd / 89 Hunt / White (Spitfire)
85th / 89 Kooyman / Marle ? (Blade F16)

The other crews didn't do the bouy race week.

Note however how all teams named above have put in at least 3 DNC/DSQ or BFD. Of course this is killing with a 91 point hit for each such result. In the last two races only some 32 boats out of 89 started however. So lots of thems have incurred two of these hits.

Only 3 other teams scored three DNC/DSQ/BFD while scoring ahead of team Sproat/Burke so their 33rd placing out of 89 isn't too shabby. These other team ended up at respectively 32nd (John Casey F18), 29th (Delnooz, F18), 24th (Gunnar Larsen, F18).

The full result can be seen here :

Now as a little tidbit at the end :

Both the Spitfire and the Viper are sailing of a Texel handicap of 104. Basically the Viper presented an individual measurement form showing the larger platform weight and getting a slower handicap number. Therefor Rob White with crew Redfearn did a head-to-head with former Spitfire crew Sproat and Burke.

The end result is as follows :

27 15 18 30 BFD DNC DNC Team Sproat; average score 22.50 ex BFD/DNC's
42 42 BFD 27 46 DNC DNC Team white; average score 39.25 ex BFD/DNC's

Now onto the Round itself !

Wrong!!!!

HENRY White is Reg White's GRANDSON - i.e. Rob White's SON.

Thanks for the update Wouter.

Apparently not all the F16 did the round. Geert R. finished 128 out of 268 and first F16.
I hope it was not too boring for them, since there was very little wind today.... We were sailing at about 5-8 knots today...

I'm missing Sproat and Burke in the results. I never saw them in any results during the day. Did they start at all ?

Wouter (or anyone who knows), what does the BFD in the results mean? Never heard that one before.

Black Flag Disqualification.

Over the line earlier after the Black Flag was hoisted. The latter signals that their will not be a restart only DSQ's for anybody who violates the rule that states no-one may be in front of the start line in the last minute to the start.

Wouter, Thanks for the explanation. It seems they have the black flag up for every start, I guess you need it with that many boats on the line. BUT, how do they know for certain who is over and who is not? Do they video tape each start from a Helicopter or from both ends of the line or what?

I know it's a very long line with all those boats, so I was just wondering how they pick who was over early.
