Can anyone post pics and descriptions for a homemade spin pole?
I have a 14'6" windsurfer mast, a factory H-20 spin and plan on launching from the tramp. The pole is raw (pardon the expression) and I need yall's experience to help me along....I don'y know how to tell if the pole is carbon or F/G, it is all colored(dyed) green.

Although I can't offer a picture, as I don't own the boat anymore, i'll describe how I mounted my 14' carbon 2 piece windsurfing mast from sailing pro shop on my hobie 18. I've seen a few boats with a slot cut out and put on the dolphin striker and I tried that but I didn't like the idea of that much pressure on the dolphin striker.
I can't remember if the front of the 20's pole is bare or not. I think it is. In which case I would just get a bracket like they use on the nacra 6.0 and get a windsurfing mast base (just a plastic piece with a hole in it) and just put the post from the bracket into the hole.
What I did on the 18... since the 6.0 bracket can't be mounted on the cross beam, is I got a rudder gudgeon w/ a pintel from west marine, got two spacers from the same company so the holes matched up and mounted it right in front of the dolphin striker post. without the spacers the pole did not have enough room between the cross beam and the pintel to fit.
To tie the pole up to the bridle I just used some spectra, wrapped it around the pole a few times and tied it up to the bridle on each side of the furler, leaving enough space below the furler for the furler to work. I eventually changed it and tied a stainless ring to the bridles so it hung below the furler so I could just slip the pole in easily without tying knots all the time.
The end piece for the tiller crossbar fit perfectly in the end of my pole so i just rivetd that in the end to tie the spectra bridles to a whole i put in the bridle tang on the whole. I run the bridles back and forth to purchase them so I could prebend the pole which made it handle the upward pull of the spinnaker better. If you can't use the piece I used at the end of the pole you can just get 2 eyestraps and rivet one to each side of the pole.
Finally, I got a ronstan stand up block (you can buy it with spring and eyestrap already attached) and riveted it on the end for a tack line.

Great I dea to add a snuffer to this basic pole, Go and buy a $30 cheap tenis or racketball racket at Big 5 or whatever, cut out the netting, and stick it down your new pole. The bag for the snuffer is easy to make outa some heap mesh, Attach that racket, either with a bolt of fiberglass and I think you got yourself a cheap but completely functional snufferpole.
