Need a big favor if any has an 18-2, could you measure your upper forestay and you bridle wires? I'm thinking mine may be out of wack.

I have 26.5" for the upper forestay and 48" for the brindle wires.

Thanks,

John,

I have the same measurements. Though I have yet to put mine in the water.

He Jonathan thanks, appreciate it. Did you get the 18-2 that was in Vegas? And ya coming over for any of the races? Two other 18-2's over here, we could have our own fleet.

Hey, what do you have for your lower forestay with the measurement form the pull to where the swag for the turnbuckle starts. I have 17 feet 2 inches.

Thanks again

Wish I was coming over. Oh well....

Yea, I got 17" 1" to the turnbuckle. Have you called performance to see what the measurements should be? I am curious to hear what other owners have though.

Also, any chance of getting that tunning guide from you?

Jonathan

John,

Just sent you a personal e-mail with the pics. Here ya go!

Same thing on the bridal wire measurement and the P-19 uses the same bridals, so that can't be goofed.
My upper forestay is right about the same, 27" and then a 1" shackle - no difference there.
The lower forestay is exactly 17'-10" or 214" to the end of the turnbuckle - sounds pretty close there. I don't know if the 3" is enough to make a difference.
I only have about an inch free of thread on the turnbuckle

So where does that leave us?

Mast pre-bend - How tight are your diamond wires. Mine are just tight enough that I can move them maybe only 1/4 of an inch. My mast is pretty straight. Typically when the rig is not stressed with no sails, the trap wires will hang down right about even with the shroud stay points. Fair amount of rake on the mast.

Without sailing on your boat, it would be tough to tell from descriptions over the Internet and some photos. Hope this helps.

Are you sure that you are shackling the upper and lower forestays to each other and not using the ring. The ring does not get shackled and should float behind the forestays so when you raise the jib the S hook will engage with the ring.

She is rigged up right, not my first Prindle.

FYI, just got off the phone with Murrays, and they did mention there were some Prindle 18-2 and 19 that used a Danger jib where the upper forstay was 3" shorter, but that was sooooooo loooong ago.

There going to make one for up for my to try out and go from there,
