Yes there was a pacific 1000 for a short time. Some of the problem we have down in southern calif is that most of the beaches are state owned and you can't land on them unless it's an emergency. There are very few hotels on the sand and way to far apart for a race not to mention the large streches of cliff lined shore. If you broke down and needed to beach the boat you would S.O.L. Another thing would be everyone thinks the water is to cold here. Today the water is a blistering 55 how much warmer do you need

. A few of us are going to start the Newport to Ensenada race on friday april 25 and sail to San Diego. It's about 70 mile reach depending on the wind. Once in S.D. MBYC is hosting the cat fight regatta always a fun race.
