Hello all. My Father and I have bought a second hand Mosquito (an older ply wood model).
We werent shown how to rig it by the bloke we bought it off, and have had it out a couple of times, playing around.

We have not fitted the jib/head sail yet and have not worked out how the vang is set eaither.

Can someone please post photos of your rigging? i would love to now how it all *should* be.

Thanks

Kent

The vang is easy to set up. Take it off the boat and leave it off !

Have you been through the photo albums? There are two collections of rigging photos there, although I admit there's not a lot on jib rigging. Worth a look anyway though:

There will also be a pre-season warmup weekend at Latrobe Valley YC (Hazelwood Pondage) on 5-6 September. That would be the best way to get your boat set up. Come along and have a look at the other boats and get some help.

Without seeing the equipment that was supplied with your boat it will be a bit difficult to say how it should be rigged. They do vary a bit.

some people pefer to use a boom vang to hold the mast rotation when sailing down wind. other people will use a vang as a kicking strap to stop the boom lifting to high during a jib. it is still a useful item on a mossie. even if other people dont use one at all.
it is up to peoples own opinion. and i use one. and so do a lot of people.
but do come to thr training weekend there is always plenty of help and advice.
