I was wondering were the supports on the trailer should be. The hobie sits on the trailer right in line with the front and rear pylons. That leaves the whole front of the hulls sticking out there. Were as my friends sits about 2 feet in front of the front pylons. Is it ok to have the hulls sitting out that far or should I rework the trailer and move the support forward?

When Hobie 16's are laid up the keel area is all solid glass so there is
no real worry about where it sits on the trailer.

cheers

It concerns me the way my boat loads with the center of gravity so far forward, but I have towed my boat for thousands of miles this way without any problems. Just be sure the rear of the boat is securely tied down. If the rear is not tied down, the boat will want to tip over forward.

I was hoping to get a few more opinions. However since no one has disagreed with h16bill or HobieDave I guess I'll leave the trailer as is.
Thanks guys on your thoughts on this subject.

Hi,
When I switched from a Hobie 16 to my Prindle 18 (same trailer), I thought it looked like a lot of weight on the single front roller. I thought about picking up some fiberglass hull cradles, but instead went with a double roller system. This spreads the weight out quite a bit. I have some photos of it at http://www.thebeachcats.com . Just go there and do a search for "double rollers".
Good luck,

We used to trailers 2 16's on one trailer. Other than the wind drag that caused the gas milage to plummet when driving over 55, we never had any problems.
