I am revisiting the harness issue and would like a bit of feedback.
I've been considering switching my "hooked" system to the Brathwaite
ball one.
I'm motivated by the safety factor; ease of getting off the wire if
somehow pulled down by the boat, no hook to bind up on the various
lines and fittings (and it always does!) , plus it won't poke a hole
in the hull when climbing back aboard. I also have had my 8 year old daughter out with me and want the easiest setup possible for her.

I noticed yesterday that one of our local sailors has switched his trap setup following some "hey, can't
get off this thing in a hurry" moments and had some positive
feedback.
On the flip side, MM mentioned that they don't always hook up quite
well.

I'll have to change out my old harnesses which are not adaptable
because the plate is permanently attached beneath the fabric.
Leaning towards the Magic Marine Pro. Any other suggestions
appreciated.

Thanks,

Sheldon

Hey Sheldon,

1. If you are concerned about it,..switch out,...one less thing on your mind
2. Kids on board???..you know that answer too,......si?
3. I am going to switch,, I have a 1 man person boat... and I must realize that there will be no one there in case of an emergency,....so, eliminating a hazard is a given
4. On the harness,..I tried a Murray Marine Pro Half harness,..it is great! Support is good and the extra mobility is tremendous, which is what I wanted.

Sail safe.....have fun,...come home in one piece!

thanks, Bruce. If I was sailing in the warm waters that you are, I'd opt for the smallest possible bucket too! Here in Socal, I usually have on a Spring or full wetsuit. I prefer the extra back support so I am leaning towards the full harness, whatever the brand and model.

In any event, I'm about convinced that I'm going to change out my old gear. It just seems to make sense. I'll post my results when I do that.
