How long is he in town? Did anyone else know about this? I want to go, but 2 weeks notice is kind of short to get time off from work. I schedule appointments a month in advance.
Is he doing any other races? I'd be happy to drive that distance to sail w/him and get tuning tips, but 2weeks...
Anyone know why he chose that area? It's great to have him in the u.s., no matter where he is.

The reason for this seems to be that the creation of Taipan fleets in the USA was discussed with Jim. This resulted in the first official Taipan 4.9 fleet in Annapolis MD. This fleet is now called "Taipan fleet 1". They also welcomed a new member and boat in the week of 8 april 2003. Chris put the number of Boats in this newly created fleet to 4 boats. I think Gulfport had some 4 boats now so your both of equal size.

Taipan fleet 1 has the intention of creating an evening series and they expressed their intention to request Jim Boyer to put up a Taipan 4,9 seminar at the Podickory Yacht Club. It also seems that a Fleet 1 webpage is in the make too.

I was waiting for the final dates to come in before announcing this news on this forum. I personally didn;t realize Jims trip to the USA would be so soon. But now that that is clear I feel that it would be unwise to without this info from you guys any longer.

Fleet 1 has 2 female skippers and two male ones if my info is correct. And this is a very good development I think. Considering how Jennifer is doing !

So that is the reason why Jim went over there, highest concentration of female skippers !

And to celebrate US Taipan fleet 1 of course.

Ohh, all have spis.

Just a yesterday it was confirmed that Jim would arrive shortly and that he will do a seminar in Annapolis MD. It was expressed that A-cat sailors are invited as well.

I was assured that I would recieve the final dates soon.

That's great news!
Sounds like we need to pick some regattas midway to meet up at. And the 2 fleets (I guess we're fleet 2 down here) need to pick one "hometown" race to invite the other to.
I'm really excited.

Jim found himself arranging to go to the USA on a short notice for other business. Given this, both Jim and the Fleet at Podickory (which happened to be nearby) saw the opportunity to plan a small seminar for locals and a race in the spare time Jim that would have during his stay here.

This was all rather last minute and that was the reason for the short notice.

Sort of arranging the pleasent to go along with the necessary.
