Does the Wildcat have problems with the daggerboards, like more recent Capricorns, too?

The wildcat broke as many boards at the worlds this year as we did of the entire last year.

Lets just say they are not as robust as the Tiger boards.
You really want to raise them when going downwind (or upwind when overpowered for that matter).
Most sailors use a line to raise the lee board from the windward hull.
It doesn't happen to all new boats though, some just more than others.

I know A-cats have a line to lower the boards.. but how do you have a line to raise them?

The line mounts low on the board, goes up along the side of the board and out of the trunk. Pulling on the line makes the board go up.

A small line is inserted into the board at the point where the board meets the deck when in downwind mode.
This line sits inside the daggerboard well when pushed all the way down, the line then runs underneath the tramp to the other side where there is a handle and a 2:1 purchase to pull it up.

It is Hobie's new F18 boat, the Wildcat. It supersedes the Tiger.

Are they being sold in the US or are those only showing up for the nationals?

It's 1:1 on all the a-cats I've seen including mine. As long as you spray a little PAM cooking spray on the boards (tip from Greg Goodall), they come up and down very easily.

It's a really nice feature that more cats should copy. When I come around the top mark, I grab that line with both hands and make two quick hard sawing motions left and right and both boards are raised perfectly and I'm right back on the helm.
