Just re-assembled my rudders and cross bar, and was able to get all the slop out of the crossbar adjustment fitting. Used some yellow Teflon tape on the male end when screwing the two pieces together and ta-da, no more wiggling.

Took a little persuasion when getting the adjuster to where I needed it and the helm feels much more solid.

I am currently taking the slop out of my Prindle rudders. I finished the P-15 last week and am working on the P-16 today. I cut a large teflon fender washer down to small strips and inserted between the pintles and castings. Additionally, I cut and fitted small nylon posts between the pintles and the rudder gudgeons.

The result is a solid feeling on the rudders, with no looseness. I have not sailed the P-15 since doing this project. I suspect I will have to adjust the rake because the rudders were so loose, they were raking back when running.

Did you have to adjust the rake on your rudders?
