My old P-16 rudders have just about had it. Anyone out there know where I might find a good used replacement?

Thanks,

dan

I forgot to mention, a 15/16/18 or Escape rudder will fit.

I have a real good complete Prindle rudder system, rudders, castings and tiller connector bar. Located in South Florida.
Will send pics if you are interested

Dan:

These things are just about bullet proof, and unless you have broken them in half they are still very useful. May I ask what it is that has you thinking you need new rudders?

I'll try to describe the problem. The boat and rudders were manufactured in '76. The rudders have seen a lot of rocks. The forward bottom corners are gone. I have epoxied several times to build back the corners, but I am loosing ground. There is no longer a corner, it is a round bull nose. One rudder is split at the bottom forward corner with an 1/8" gap extending 6" up the forward edge.

I suppose anything is repairable with time, patience and skill. Repairing these rudders will require lots of epoxy and filler material (I don't even know what should be used for filler).

If I do not find replacements, I may attempt to rebuild them this coming winter. New ones are simply out of the question due to the expense.

Like I said, these things are bullet proof except against rocks, There are gazillion of used one around.

Check out Pete Begle's add over on the beachcats. I have some, but they are for a 18-2 and/or 19

Thanks, I am in contact with Pete Begle. I will probably purchased a couple rebuilt rudders from Pete unless I find a couple originals in good condition.

I ordered a Tiller Tie Bar from Pete yesterday. A lodgepole pine blew down last winter and the top fell across the bar, breaking it at the center. I had it heliarced, but it is about to break at the weld.
