I need to replace the shroud of my haylard can i make this thing or what i have made my own shrouds at boat part stores.I can make the loops and length but what about the copper hanger and feeding it through the mast head. Is there a step by step on line I just need some guide lines.
I wouldn't make standing rigging at a west marine. First of all, their swaging machines are spotty at best. My local store wont let you make rigging, only non-standing rigging like lifelines and trapeze lines. I'd honestly buy shoulds and stays from reputable dealers. Places like the catsailor.com store and murrays will have the lengths of line for your boat on file and will hydraulically swage your fittings.
Yes, dies wear and every swaging machine needs periodic maintenance. Is it really necessary to slam a company just because their successful? I purchase goods and services from my local small chandlery and also West. Become an educated consumer and make sure your getting good quality and value. Support all companies who demonstrate competence in the sailing market. Too busy accentuating the positive, to hear the rumors over the wind noise.
I wasn't slamming West at all. I was just saying that making YOUR OWN standing rigging is not a good idea. Sweet jesus, if I were going to "slam" anybody, it'd be more evidence and vitriolic that the above. I visit our local west on a daily basis.
