I have seen the forecast and re-organised my schedule to get to Sugarloaf on Saturday.

For everyone wanting to know how we went...

Peter, Nic and myself turned up Saturday and got the boats off trailers, rigged and ready for the sails to go up. The wind was blowing out at about 15 knots with some strong gusts, but by 12:30 the stronger gusts managed to have Nic's boat flying a hull under mast alone, the Toy was moving itself backwards out of the way while Lemon Peel just sat there and rocked about (sorry Peter) grin. All hands ran to the beach to secure things, then started grumbling about the white caps. mad

Briefing at 1:00pm told us that the weather station at Coldstream (down the road) was showing 27 knots with gusts above 40. We all looked at each other with the same thought - 'I aint doing that' blush.

There were 6 starters in the mono fleet, with only 2 finishers. Some of the Sabres looked like they had outboards attached they had that much of a bow wave in the conditions.

All in all - a good day for rigging practice. At least we dont have to repair anything, and are good to try this weekend - Last report had it at 24 degrees again cool

I have to say that it was very much a day of enjoying watching the action on the shore rather than breaking the boat (and me) on the water.

I have never been to Sugarloaf before and I was impressed by how easy it is to see the action on the water.....nice !!

I will be there hopefully again this weekend and sailing this time......providing I get all the jobs around the house finished during the week.....

The forecast is similar to last week (16 knots) so I will roll up and see how it turns out. Last week was a lot of work for no sail frown. At least this week we should have slightly more water smile.

Thinking about sailing on the bay this coming weekend, 3 Oct 09. Port Melbourne, Altona, etc.

Weather permitting, anyone interested in getting a few Mossies together to go around ??

Hi Nic,
We will be at Elwood with the Laser, not sure if we will take the Mossie yet. Does anyone know the sailors name with the mossie that was sailing at Elwood last year?

Weather forecast is still looking pretty good so I would be keen if there are other mossies there.

Nic,
I am taking the Mossie (Cat Rig) I believe there is a club race Saturday afternoon. As for Sunday if there is sailing at one of the near by clubs I would be interested or start at Elwood and sail up the coast for a couple of hours and back. I will try and confirm with Elwood club the Saturday afternoon race is on.

Saturday is on for me for sure. Sounds good.

From the Elwood SC website it seems like there is racing on.

Warning signal 1355 Sat afternoon. I should be able to make it. Might also be Mk1 yet.

I will check the Weather first though!
