Hi there

Does anyone have a design for a one-piece beach dolly for a H14?

A style I thought looked good is the 'Eurotrax', but I don't have that sort of money.

At the moment I'm backing the road trailer straight into the water...but want to avoid this.

Any ideas or thoughts would be great, especially if someone has come up with a homemade unit that is light and works well.

Thanks

i back my road trailer to the waters edge only wetting the tires. then i push the boat off while holding a bow line to the boat. i can pull the boat back onto the trailer too, without wetting the trailer axle. if thats too difficult you could add a winch to your trailer and winch the boat back on.

Thanks Marsh Hawk...yeah that's what I try and do, but its just too much of a hassle where I sail with a large grassed rigging area etc...but thanks for your response.

Hello,
I built my own set of beach wheels, but since they were made from somewhat unique parts, they'd be hard for someone else to duplicate. I started with a set of flotation type lawn mower tires (about 16" diameter x 10" wide) and built hubs for them that slide on an aluminum shaft. (photo attached) If you are going to be mainly on a solid surface, you should be able to get by with a wheel-barrow type tires. These would be easy to work with, since they already have a hub built in and are available at most hardware stores. Just find a shaft that extends past the hub far enough for the hulls to ride on. You'll have to devise some sort of cradle or just padding for the boat to rest on.
Good luck,

Thanks Jack...just what I was looking for.

Yeah the ground I'll be rolling over is a mixture of mown grass and seal down to the water (no vehicles allowed on this particular ramp, just used for single-handers etc..) so hence the need for a dolly.

Now I can see what I need to build...the pic was very useful.

The only problem is that now my wheel-barrow won't work...as I've pinched the wheel!!!

Many thanks for your reply and enjoy your season sailing! Cheers.
