Going to be spending the weekend on an abandoned island. Anyone thrown a tarp over their boom (or raised wings) and slept on the tramp? Don't have to worry about indiginous wildlife except ghost crabs and bugs. (I hate bugs)

That will work. I would only use a tarp if you expect a heavy dew. If your expecting rain bring a tent. Find the right size tarp throw it over the boom and using some bungie and plastic hooks attach it to the shear of your H17

if you have a tent bring it, the thing with the h17 boom is, you know, at the mast it is so low. Have you practiced rigged a the tarp idea yet?

Why not beg, borrow or steal a H14/16 boom as they slide in the mast sail track and therefore can be rigged horizontal....then just throw a tarp over the top...instant tent. Nige H17

Why not do away with the boom and make it a little higher (not the weed) inside? Mount the main halyard to the upper mainsheet block, raise it as high as you want and then run a rope from the mainsheet blocks to the mast. Makes a picture perfect tent. I have done this and it works very well.

Actually, I was going to take the wings and put them on like I was trailering the boat, and then drape the tarp over that.

I don't have a tent, so thats not an option

I'll be living in my wetsuit though... I plan on being wet the whole time I'm there.

Maughan,
If you are going to be living in your wet suit and plan to be wet the whole time, why even bother with a tarp?

Just some motherly advice here -- do not leave that wetsuit on any longer than necessary, or your skin will rot and fall off your bones.

Mary: I don't think I could sleep with rain in my face

Thanks for the words of wisdom Mom!

hey...that's a great idea! Thanks - I've been planning to rig some PVC tubing or something for a tarp but the mainsheet / string idea is great for us boomless cats.
