I am hoping for an answer to the question...What is special about a "Hobie Alter Signature Model" boat. Mine is a 1982 Hobie 18. Lighter? Better? What?

Posts: 37 | My departure date is Nov. 2nd. I am leaving on a 2-1/2 year circumnavigation in a 40 foot yawl (1966 Rhodes Reliant) as part of an educational program called Eye of the World who's mission is to bring the world to the middle schools of America via a travelling classroom...sailboat. www.eyeotw.org that was started by us and is now a non-profit. Tbe boat is at Crown Point marina in Gloucester, VA if you want to come see it. We will be putting her back in the water on friday.

Posts: 5,525 | Last year, maybe the year before, my wife had a student who was going to some remote area of the Pacific to put on a Shakespeare workshop! No doubt many will think that a waste of time and money but we think it was pretty cool.
Bon Voyage!

That is awesome!! I work with Dan Rhodes, the grandson of Philip Rhodes, the designer of the Reliant.
Best wishes for a safe and fun trip,
David
