I still look at the Woensdag WEB video on Youtube almost daily. And for the first time I noticed at least one team partially retract the windward dagger board only. I can't remember if I asked this before, but apart from coming back to beach, or going over shallow water, when/why is it advantageous to retract the dagger board? I began to think that it was whenever the kite was going up, but I see some in the video with the board up, and no kite.

If you're lightweight on crew and getting excessive heeling, you can pop the boards about 6" and it will reduce the tippyness.

Likewise for reaching.
