Posts: 160 North Carolina | I would love to come, but after draining water out of my starbord hull for about five minutes after coming in during the last Jordan Lake race I've realized that I get to do a keel repair over the winter. I had a great time last time and really appreciate CSC letting us race. If more cats (non-isotopes) would show some interest in maybe establishing an open class I would definately consider joining. Hope ya'll have a great weekend.

Posts: 807 Hillsborough, NC USA | Being on the CSC Board of Directors, Joleen feels obligated to give the official position. I, however, have no such compunction. Come race with us. Nobody is going to turn you away. The worst that will happen is that you won't be scored (actually, we have a "no-score" feature built into our scoring program to handle exactly this situation, so you know it has happened before).

Posts: 160 North Carolina | Eric,
Thank you for the very generous offer to borrow a boat, but I think I'm going to hold off this weekend. I'd love to take a ride on one sometime though. They seem to perform rather well in the light to moderate stuff on a lake.
Joleen, would you be opposed if I perhaps started another thread calling on cat sailors in the area to perhaps join the CSC fleet for open fleet racing? Just like WindyHill said, most of us have to travel quite a ways to race. Jordan Lake is still two hours away for me, but I agree that it is one of the more cat freindly locations.

Posts: 235 | Wonderful conversation - I've been struggling for a few years to figure out why other cats aren't sailing with CSC - there aren't alot of places with beach launching and the venues are pretty good for CATS. The Club is CAT friendly (as much as we can expect a competitive group of monohull sailors to be CAT friendly).
So, what I hear Windyhill20 saying, if we can get a few CATS (non Isotopes) racing, then maybe others will join the racing. I'm game to try.
Governor's Cup has been added to the EMSA points schedule for next year.
Technical Note - I'm currently not on the CSC Board of Directors, but I was - and Eric's note on my compunction to toe the line is correct, but unofficially I totally agree with Eric (on this point anyway)
Social after Racing tomorrow, Vista Point, probably at the shelter maybe around 3..... Joleen, if you have some link to the park people, I wish you'd ask them about working on the cat beach at Vista. In the water at the foot of the gravel cat/windsurfer "ramp", out in the water just where you launch your boat are stumps, invisible just under the water surface. Just the right size for popping a hole in a hull or twisting an ankle. Not that big, but it's going to take a backhoe/some piece of heavy equipment to get them out while someone spots them for an operator. Someone needs say to them that cantaloupe-sized rocks are counter-intuitive on a beach... | | | Re: Jordan Lake Sailing, October 17,18

Definitely smacked my centerboards on some of those stumps before.

Posts: 168 San Diego | the water level is down several feet right now so it would be very easy to remove any unwanted rocks and stumps. | | |
