Is the new Tiger rudder system worth the extra dollars, and will they enhance performance?

Tiger rudder system? I only know of the newer designed blades. If that is what you are asking about I have some knowledge.

I like the way the helm feels with the newer blades. It helps make the boat much more responsive. I thought the older design made the boat steer like a truck. I sail with my mainsheet in my hand, I do not have the advantage of the crew doing the sheeting for me. If I did then I would keep the rudders straighter and make the crew work the feel of the boat more. With the main in my hand I do not want to sheet too much. Even with 10:1 that is hard to do with one hand. Hence I steer more around the puffs than sheet. With the newer rudder design it is much easier to move the helm and make the boat go where you want it to go.

Is it faster???...I doubt it. you will still have the same amount of drag with either as they are about the same size. If money is no object, then definitely go for it.

Later,
Dan
