Can you attach the photo so that it can be enlarged. I am having trouble with the transom. Looking at it I think it is an older Auscat, but again I cannot clearly see the transom.

Thanks for you help Tom, it needs alot of Work, and we don't race over the wet season. I thought as a project over the wet, and then try the "A" class over next season with an old dunger to see if it's for me????

Save your money Engineer. The $800 could be put to better use. This boat is between 35 and 40 years old and bears no relationship to anything Boyer/Goodall produced. The canoe sterns and 5308 section mast give it away as a relic from the 70's. Even if you could get it sailing it would give you no clue as to the true beauty of a modern A Class.

Only sail a modern A if you can afford to buy one because otherwise you'll spend the rest of your life wanting one!!!

Thanks John,

I thought as much was the case, Like all old worn out, clapped out timber boats, too much trouble, not enough gained.

I own a Boyer MKIV and love it. Depending upon the year of manufacter they range between $3,000-9,000 in the states. Mine is a 2002 with canted hulls. The boat is great off the wind. The olny issue that I have with it is the amount of freeboard in the bows. It makes it more difficult to tack than my Tornado. I wanted to see the transom because I ran into an eighties era Auscat that tapered down to 2 inches. The rudder heads were rounded in the front and fit into the transom. Midship it bowed out and the bows wear also narrow.

A Boyer MkIV is a fine boat and would give you a pretty close understanding of the modern performance and they are long lasting. I have a canted MkIV as well as a Geltek Flyer II. It is obviously faster but not by too much, and a lot more expensive. Prices in Aus around 6k to 9k depending on condition and with such things as trailer, beach rollers etc. Mine is for sale if you are interested - pm me for details and location.

Cheers
