Posts: 4,118 Northfield Mn | OK, this is what happens when a conversation starts somewhere else, then for whatever reason it moves. My Hobie Fleet has hosted a regatta the last three years. 1st year was decent in attendance, (23 boats?), 2nd year had like 16 boats, this year 12. Not worth the effort of putting on a regatta where everybody gets fed 4 meals, t-shirt, giveaways, etc. It was a real class act regatta, in a really kick butt spot. I wanted to keep the regatta going, but the only way to do that is to abandon the Hobie end of things and make it an open catamaran event and invite everyone. Which means none of the Hobie people will show up anyway. I'd consider doing something in 2011 along the lines of a F16 Nationals type event though. I've got a spot with ample hotel rooms, there's a yacht club I could lean on for help, and its on a real nice section of the Mississippi. You might in this case as MN is along f'n way away AND its cold.
Anyway those 2 guys are suffering from a persecution complex already as they are right in the middle (well maybe more towards the top) of H only land and getting to race at home will involve making up your own gig now. - Which sucks for everyone Yeah, its a long way. And cold isn't an accurate term. Your freezer is cold, this is so much worse. And this is the top of Hobie land, its also the western edge of CRAWville. I wanted a singlehanded spin boat so I got the FXone, Div7 wants H16's. So I've moved on. | | | Re: Well I did it.

Matt and I are completely in for an event in MN. I love MN and we have so many friends that we would encourage to come out and support this event. By that I mean, drink with us and see how big our kids have grown. Nah, they are H people, but I know they'd be all over a good party. March on Karl! Pete - The mosquitos are no worse than down here, but a lot bigger. Cold is relative. But Gina looks great in a turtle-neck.

Posts: 5,525 | Just gotta get it home. Well, and pay for it. Just sealed the deal 20 minutes ago on the phone. Dude, take delivery down here and keep it at GYC for the winter. We have people doing that already. It wouldn't be a problem. Hell you could probably fly in a couple of times for what it costs in gas to get it back to the frozen north. . . oh yeh, you could be sailing instead of shoveling snow.

I do, okay we do(CRAW that is I just order the food and bring the rum and the cups for Saturday night/Sunday morning. Oh yes, the RC too but that's minor compared to the rum), its called the Broken Rudder, in Shell Lake WI. 1.5 hours from the Twin Cities. Last year was the lightest attendance on record with only 18 boats but 15 of them had spinnakers. Next year I could almost imagine an F18 and a Falcon from that fly over state you know so well. Regardless, there should be no less then (3) F16 attending in 2010. By the way, did you hear Karl got a new F16? PS As I think back, it is sure a lot easier to carry 6 bottles of rum to the party then the 3 Kegs I used to bring to BE Regatta...oh the memories...burning A-scows...blowing up watermelons...regattas just aren't the same without a proper application of high explosives. | | |
