Any suggestions as to who makes a decent dacron sail. I do not race if that makes a difference. The one that I have is delaminating. Would it be a good idea to look for a used one?

The 5.5 has no boom, right? So you also need to have the clew plate attached to what ever new one you buy, or find a used one. Contact Calvert Sails (they advertise here, check the online store tab on the top of this page) and see what they can do for you, he fixed my old 5.5 sail some years ago, did a nice job, reasonable price and quick too.

I have the clew traveler and battens from my old sail which is delaminating thus the reason for a new sail. I will contact Calvert Sails for a quote.
Thanks

Hey Hullflyer..sloop or Uni, carbon or aluminum mast? Used sails can be found, condition will vary. I bought a used Uni sail a few years back and then had to spend a couple hundred bucks having things fixed plus, a new set of battens. Still cheaper than new and now a pretty good sail to boot. Having to do it all over again I would probably be buying new.

Since yours is recreational you do have more latitude with your selection.

Good hunting, Tom G

The exchange rate from euros to dollars equals $1411 plus shipping, if I have to spend that amount of money I will surely spend it with an American sail maker.

whirlwind will make you a mainsail and a jib and supply new battens for that kind of money.

Another vote for Calvert. Loved them and loved the square top they made me.

Check with Mark at the Cathouse on a used 5.5 sail. If he does not have one he may know of one or will put your name on a wait list. He moves a lot of Nacra's.
