Will Matt Bounds show up to sail against Billy Whitehurst in the F 17 Class? Who will actually sail with Captain Kirk on a Hobie 16? Joe Mac and Chris appear to be a top pick in the Hobie 20s. The Wave Class will sail under the IWCA Rules - so Ya'll come now - ya hear?

Remember the casinos are only a few minutes away following the Regatta paries, and if you go to sleep before 3:00 am then you may not be "eleigible" for racing the next day. Bourbon Street is a little over two hours from the regatta site - for the bravest night - crawlers only.

All,

The 40th annual Hobie Midwinters East Regatta is not far away (March 20-21). If you plan on attending (or might attend), please RSVP at www.regattas.ning.com/page/midwinter-east-2010. This will encourage others to attend when they see how the field is shaping up.

The registration deadline has been extended to March 8th. After you RSVP, you can download the Registration form if you wish (NOR and registration attached for your convenience as well).

Typical wind for this time of year is 10+ and a temp around 80 degrees. The Friday and Saturday night parties are going to be outstanding with lots of food and spirits. What a great way to kick off the sailing season!

See you in Mississippi.

If it was open to F18s we'd be there.

Jeezus, Ollie - what's the first word in the title? Hobie. Not F18, not Capricorn / AHCP. Hobie.
Would you make the same comment about the Sunfish Midwinters? J24? You're missing out on the Thistle Midwinters this weekend in St. Pete. Oh, yeah, that's right - they didn't invite the F18s, either.

Talked to Rob Jerry yesterday - there will be a bunch of 16s coming from Syracuse.

And, yeah - I'll have my 17 there. Bring it, Billy!

F@#$ me Matt, your original post wasn't harsh enough so you felt the need to step it up?

Do you think your response will draw people to your class or encourage them to look elsewhere?

Just for clarification Sunfish,J24 and Thistle are classes of boats. Hobie is a manufacturer of boats of which 2 are f18 compliant,Right?
Maybe he's a little bitter about the IWCA rules being implemented.

LOL, winter got you down Matt?

I don't think they make Sunfishes for the F18 class.

Either way not a very intelligent post.

There's a foot of snow on the ground, and I'm grumpy.

Your original post was out of line and you know it.

This regatta is for Waves (IWCA Rules - which I approved), Hobie 14s, Hobie 16s, Hobie 17s, Hobie 18s Hobie 20s and Hobie Tigers (if they show - they haven't in several years). There aren't enough WildCats yet in this part of the world for a fleet of their own.

The HCA-NA is allowing F18s at any Hobie sanctioned regatta (other than Area Championships and NACs) as long as there are 2 Hobie branded F18s there. What else do you want?

"Will Matt Bounds show up to sail against Billy Whitehurst in the F 17 Class?" from above post.

This is the part that confused me, I guess he meant to say H 17 class?

Great venue, great event with a history of good competition. I miss Gulf Coast highways and crawfish. Mardi Gras out here is a punchline instead of a culture. I haven't had any oysters since Alter Cup and I only got to rent those for a short time. Here's hoping the event is a huge success.

We miss you. Mark has a paint ball gun that can strike Kirk from across Villa Sabine.

Anyway > I would bet a six pack on BW with his Hobie 17 MX against BC on his F 17 in the RTI Race anytime.

...regret the Class error, folks,
Aloha - B

I'm sure an offical recap will come in from the SRYC folks(hopefully w/pics and vids) and PRO Rice, but I wanted to throw out big kudos to all who put the event together. Think we had about 40 boats or so on the water Saturday. Winds were 12 - 18 w/gusts in the 20's Sat, and 4 long races were burned off. Good thing everyone got their share Sat though, as Sunday morning brought showers and winds in the 20 - 30 range w/dropping temps. RC was quick to call it a day/event and masts were dropped quickly to do trophies and get everyone on the road.

Thanks again to Caleb and his team, and look forward to adding SRYC events to the "must do" Gulf Coast events!
