Posts: 4,118 Northfield Mn | You guys are crazy. Since when has just below freezing point been sailing weather? It has to get well above freazing to sail here at least. I haven't been out ice fishing this winter, so I have no clue how thick the ice is, but last year it was around 2-1/2ft on most of the lakes. Takes a while for that to break up. | | | Re: Its getting to be that time of year again.

Posts: 606 Maryland | What is the water temp that the UK guys sail year round in? My elementary science teacher would share that the UK would an ice cube if it was not for the Gulf Stream.
In the Cheasapeake Bay, we have head waters coming from inland rivers and a tidal flow from the Atlantic which is drawn from mostly the Labrador Current segment of the ocean.
The bay can get down to freezing but usually hangs around 40f in the winter. Summer can get up to low 80f and carry on at 65f into midfall.

Posts: 976 France | What is the water temp that the UK guys sail year round in? Water temp in the reservoir I sail in was, in early February, around 4C. Air temp was 5C, less with the windchill. Better than last year, when I had to remove the snow from the boat cover before rigging and the control lines were rigid due to freezing. | | | Re: Its getting to be that time of year again.

Hee hhe he; I have not seen my boat for about 6 months. Might get up to the club next week if possible.

After watching Lionel Messi play, I realize I need to sail harder.
