Posts: 12,310 South Carolina | y'all know your indemnity agreement on the registration form is in conflict per US Sailing's rule 82....I'm just sayin' http://raceadmin.ussailing.org/Rules/Indemnification.htmThe following paragraph sounds more all-encompassing that it really is, but pretty much, the word "indemnity" on the title of the clause is what has you in conflict. If you read the link, they're pretty much saying that the phrases "Indemnity" or "hold harmless" carry along the possibility that a competitor could be held liable for something else on the race course they had no control over. They are NOT saying that a liability statement is not allowed - they are definitely allowed but the wording cannot use the words/phrases "indemnity" or "hold harmless". There are a couple of different usable examples at the end of that page in the link. Any language in entry documents which includes the word "indemnify" or the phrase "hold harmless" (or similar concepts) is prohibited by rule 82. A competitor may not be denied entry for refusing to sign an Entry Form that includes such language since, under rule 82, the organizing authority is prohibited from requiring the signing of such a clause as a condition of entry to the event.

Unregistered | Hey everyone... in our never-ending quest to make life easier for you, the regatta registration system has been tweaked to allow you to sign up now and make your payment online later on. Previously it was possible to register online without paying only if you planned to mail your payment to us. You can still do that, but now you can also just log back into the site at a later time and complete the payment online at your convenience (use the 'edit' link next to your entry in the competitors' list). Also, previously once you had registered, your optional purchases - extra meals etc - could not be changed regardless of whether you had paid. Now, if you choose not to pay at the time you register, you can return to your registration and update those selections online at any time prior to making your payment. These new features are available for both new registrations and those who have already signed up without paying. None of this is intended to discourage you from paying right now, but we know some need to delay doing so and we don't want to stop you from registering sooner rather than later. Keep in mind that there is still a US$100 penalty for payments made after July 10. Please also note that I've changed the title of this post to reflect the fact that this event is the F18/Nacra North Americans, not the US Nationals. On that note, I'm pleased to report that we have our first Canadian competitor sign up - Jean Marc Proulx from Quebec sailing in the F17 class. Rumor has it that a significant contingent of Canadian F18s are planning to attend as well. | | | Re: 2010 Racine Catamaran Championship (F18 & NACRA NAs)

Unregistered | One more thing - it's good to see that several competitors from outside CRAW have chosen to post a photo of themselves. It's nice to have a visual representation of some of the people who are coming. Just so you know, it is also possible for crews to upload a separate photo of themselves as well as skippers. If you click the 'Join CRAW' link at the top of the page, you can sign up as a user of the website without becoming a CRAW financial member - just leave the optional membership checkboxes blank. You can upload a photo with your details, or log in and update your profile later on. As long as you enter your name the same way it appears in your team's registration, the photo will show up on the competitors page. | | |
