The Australian company "Formula Catamarans"

Has been active with F16 development ever since their start. At the GC2007 they showed a new mast layout with several specialized fittings. A small stainless steel captive mastfoot fitting was one of the more striking developments. This was a cross between the (standard) SS pin bearing (that most F16's use as a mast foot) and the captive ball setup that is well known from Nacra catamarans and allows easy stepping of the mast. All made into a single small fitting WITHOUT any moving parts.

Formula catamarans was also the first to use the new diamond wire tensioning system that was pioneered in the Tornado class and founds its way via the Nacra infusion to the F18 class and now the F16 class (Aussie Blade and Falcon).

Now Formula Catamarans have a new addition to their range of products.

Now you can have T-foil rudders fitted to your Aussie Blade (or other F16 makes I'm sure). The upgrade price of 1450 Aus (1325 usd or 980 Euro) gets you these together with full carbon rudderstocks.

Of course Stealthmarine pioneered the T-foil rudders in the F16 class and indeed the whole small beach cat scene, but now Formula Catamarans can supply these as well. Not that the Aussie Blade hull has much need for it as I'm told. Certainly handled the rough condition well without them at the GC2007.

Still, I may well consider these for my own homebuild Taipan F16 as I can use a little help when sailing full blast 1-up in the washboard short steep waves of the North sea under spinnaker. Sadly the website doesn't show any pictures of their T-foil rudders.
