Posts: 3,355 Key Largo, FL and Put-in-Bay, ... | We already have quite a few Wave folks that say they can make the Madcatter May 21-13 at Lake Oneida in Upstate NY near Syracuse. Never been to it, but have heard nothing but rave revues over the years. Myself, and several from PIB, our National Champ from Columbia, SC and others are working on trying to make it. Hopefully, Mimi Appel and her gang of Waves will reciprocate and attend the North Americans at Put-in-Bay in August. Rick | | | Re: Waves at Madcatter

Posts: 77 | Check your dates, hope it's just a typo...May 21, 22 and 23. VERY EXCITED that your group is working on coming I have PIB dates as August 7 and 8. I am planning on attending the Ohio event, even tho the date conflicts with our Divisionals in Rochester which is less than 2 hours from my house. A promise is a promise. It will be very difficult to bring anyone, even my own daughter, due to the conflict. Madcatter online registration will be open soon. | | | Re: Waves at Madcatter

Jack, Thanks for pre-registering. Do you have any questions? Is there any thing I can help you with?
Rick, Everyone is excited that you are coming! Any others getting on the bus?
Mimi

Posts: 77 | Sweet, take good care of it, they wear out really quick. Seals are an issue.

Posts: 921 Alachua, FL | It came yesterday and I hope I never have to take it out of the bag! I would look like the Michelin man. I guess y'all wear them a lot. It looks very uncomfortable to me. Better than freezing to death I suppose.

Better than freezing to death I suppose. Actually, they are quite comfortable, as long as they are the right size and breathable (the older, non-breathable ones were like being in your own personal sauna). Keep it in the bag it came in - plastics out-gas as they age and become brittle - keeping them in an airtight bag slows this down a lot. Rinse it after sailing in salt water. Get a bottle of "Seal Saver" and coat the seals at least once a season. Lube the zipper with beeswax. And never, EVER get sunscreen on the latex seals. It's like slow acting battery acid on latex. After you put it on, you "burp" the excess air out by squatting down and holding out the neck seal. When you let the seal go and stand back up, it's like you're vacuum-packed. You'll want a couple of layers of polypropolyne long undies to go underneath it. Wicks the moisture away from your body so the suit can breathe it out. It's pretty cool to hit the beach after a long, wet day on the water, peel off the suit and be warm and dry - while other people are freezing and struggling with nasty, wet and heavy wetsuits. | | | Re: Waves at Madcatter

I got the breathable and the fleece underwear. It's pretty cool to hit the beach after a long, wet day on the water, peel off the suit and be warm and dry - while other people are freezing and struggling with nasty, wet and heavy wetsuits.
If you say so Matt. I still prefer sailing in a bathing suit.

Unregistered | for "extra" dryness... hook up your house vacuum cleaner hose to it... when you have lost 8 or so "dress sizes" pull out the hose.
you wont be able to eat or drink, but remember: it's better to look good, than feel good! | | | Re: Waves at Madcatter
