Last summer I discussed with several forum members the making and design of my selfmade beachcat which was more or less based on the Prindle-15 design.
My design was and still is very adapted to my homespot, the North sea, and to comfort.

So, I promised to show you the video in action and here it is:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R9dcmhmlk4E

or search for ronaldreeder in youtube.com

or search for sea 3 helmetcamera in youtube

hope to hear from you

"huh....., that's the only place where I'm happy, sir.

Nice. There is nothing better than sailing on the open sea.
Any more pictures of the boat?

Cheers,

Klaus

Thanks! Great vid. That is one stiff platform- looks like it never flexed in the surf.

Race cheap, race faster, Damnit!

Thanks for comments and interest. Last year I loaded some pic's in my photoalbum here on this forumsite.
But this complete album seems to be vanished and I receive only error messages when trying to recover or to open new.

So, maybe anyone can help me with this or have other suggestions for showing pics of my cat to you.

Okay, I just found a public picturesite for sharing my photo's of the cat with you. It's not the easiest way, but here is the URL:

http://s845.photobucket.com/albums/ab11/ronaldreeder/home%20built%20catamaran/

It's a tedious work to type it, but the bonus is another video as well.
hope all is satisfying, if not,ask

Erice, it's even more. The pole is also the pulling pole behind my tractor (one end to the mastball and the other end fixed with a strap in the middle of the thin most forward beam). That's also the reason why this little beam is there, by the way.

Moreover this little beam works stiffening and is besides an ideal handle for pulling the cat from the sea on the beach. Remember comfort and ease are my goals.

About the open net construction instead of a normal mesh:

It's contraversial; but in my way of catsailing I find that an open net has less resistance for incoming waves. Again for me this has nothing to do with speed but all with ease of handling big waves.
Maybe you can see that in the video when passing the first sandbank.

The price I pay that it is rather wet during sailing, but as a windsurfer I'm used tot that.
