On the Velocity live feed, which is awesome to have THANKS TAD, he said he hit a coral head with it. Around Biscane Bay I believe. Don't think the spare was on board. Must have switched the one board back and forth,

Someone just called in and said it looked like he had two in the trunks when he came ashore... carrying a spare isn't at all unusual. Just curious.

RC video of the start is up - can anyone tell what happened to Todd?

Sure. I ended up on a place I shoudnt have been. I was on port and just able to cross cat in the hat. Once I could see around his jib suddenly Todd was there. I tried to crash tack but instead I basically tacked in front of Todd and he could not avoid my sterns. My mainsheet folded his pole bridle. We did our turns and followed him to see if we could help but Todd waved us on. Maybe it was karma but near Miami we lost out rudder arm and Todd finished right behind us. I spoke with him on the beach and no matter what anyone says he's a class act. I believe he did have to protest for redress but I would expect nothing less. Just glad there was not more damage or any injury (except my pride).

Craig thinks he knows what is up with the trackers. The ones that didn't broadcast were the ones with the neoprene covers on. Once they got wet, they stopped transmitting. He's going to pull the covers off tomorrow so they should be A-ok although Trey says he likes stealth mode.

Lots of work for the ground crews in the morning.

By the way, I don't know how many of you guys are watching the live feed, but I know the video of the start was crappy. It turns out that I only had 1x network on Islamorada but the 3g here in hollywood is fast. The start tomorrow should be good watchin'.

Tad, Thanks! I'm just checking back in after work. Great to find the comments, and coverage here, at Tybee 500, and Velocity!

Funny that some of the dots looked as if they were on land.., perhaps loaded on a trailer and heading up the interstate.

Looks like the start could have some challenges today, with the wind right on the nose and surf pretty high.
Be sure to turn on the Streaming Live Video of Tad's for the start at 10AM or just before

We had a little bit of a rough start for our TVS sailors. TVS 1 (trey and bailey) TVS 4 (sam and kirk) made it off the beach just fine. TVS 3 (Brett and Alan) flipped in the surf and came back in to flip back over and head back out. During this time, TVS 2 (Don and Ryan) flipped just past the surf line. One was separated from the boat (I think it was Don) while the other flipped the boat and attempted to retrieve the bobber. The first attempt was unsuccessful, and the second attempt ended in another capsize. At this point, TVS 3 had made it back past the surf. They picked up the bobber and dropped him back off at the capsized TVS 2 boat. Then TVS 3 headed on. TVS 2 remained capsized as pieces and parts floated back to shore... They came in with some broken parts incluing a rip in the main and some broken battens. Of course they are also exhausted. They are packing up and rolling to the next stop. Will give more news as it comes to me.

Not too long after, we received a call from Kirk and Sam (TVS 4) called to report the need for rudder gudgeons and pintles... These are on their way to them, 2 miles N of the start.

Jen

Ahh....the rudder gudgeons. Been there, fixed that. I had broken enough of them to learn to carry an extra set on board. It payed off for us last year when we broke them just after the Jupiter start. Sailed into the beach, pulled the tools and parts out of the tramp bag and were back on our way only loosing a few minutes. Word the wise for the teams, with all this reaching, keep an extra set of rudder gudgeons on board!

Next was Team Bugaboo on the Hobie Wildcat at 1:34:03 pm

Then Team Pepod came roaring in on a Nacra Infusion at 1:35:34 pm

First three boats just 5 minutes apart on three different manufactures boats.

While I was typing, Seacats Orange blasted onto the beach at 2:03:17 pm .

Nine boats in and lined up on the beach, five still racing, one retired from leg
