Found this on the Open Forum - (results of the 2003 Round The Bay Race) : "Kenn Newbury was second overall corrected on his Taipan 4.9 uni w/spinnaker in his second year of ownership."

I would like to urge guys like Ken to post acchievements of boats sailed in F16 guise on THIS forum so that we can ALL see how the F16 sailors are doing !

Well done to Ken & his Taipan with spinnaker.

Cheers
Steve

The results can be found on http://sailocra.com/info/regattas/AroundTheBay/2003atb_Final_overall.htm

I hope Kenn will forgive me from putting the spot light on him like this but his result is actually quite good.

The fleet in this race consisted of 42 (scored) boats. I see no DNF's or DSQ's

Bill Moran on his Taipan was also racing in this event.

The top five on elapsed time is :

1 2 hours 47 min 55 sec --- Nacra Inter 20 Bill Gillespie Peggy Gillespie
2 2 55 55 --- Javelin 18HT Jamie Diamond Judy Diamond
3 2 57 47 --- Nacra Inter 17 Mark Batchelor
4 3 1 58 --- Hobie Tiger F18 John Bauldry Giselle Vaziri
5 3 10 19 --- Taipan 4.9 Uni + spi Kenn Newbury

The top 5 on corrected time is :

1 4 hours 16 min 55 sec --- Nacra Inter 17 Mark Batchelor
2 4 35 49 --- Taipan 4.9 Uni + spi Kenn Newbury
3 4 36 58 --- Hobie Tiger F18 John Bauldry Giselle Vaziri
4 4 38 56 --- Nacra Inter 20 Bill Gillespie Peggy Gillespie
5 4 43 44 --- Javelin 18HT Jamie Diamond Judy Diamond

The top 5 on elapsed contains the same crews as the top 5 on corrected time; there was only a reshuffle on the placings.

The fleet contained :

12 Hobie 16's
10 Mystere 4.3's
3 Hobie 20
4 Hobie 18's
2 Taipan 4.9's
1 Prindle 18
1 Nacra 6.0
1 Nacra 5.5
1 Nacra inter 20
1 nacra inter 17
1 Javelin 2
1 A-cat
1 Hobie Tiger
1 hobie 21 (no spi)
1 hobie 14 Turbo
1 Hobie 17

Wouter,
I think Kenn's results might have even been a little better had he not stopped to clear a spi sheet from under a hull. I actually caught up to him during this time. But then the chute came back out and he was ...gone!!!
