I got a call from a guy trying to find out about a Catamaran that was spotted by the coast guard adrift of the northern coast of Cuba, with the sails up with the boat overturned. From the description, it sounds to be a hobie 18 with sail number 4316 with what I would guess is a Teq.Sunrise sail. Anyone know this boat? Owner? Any help would be appreciated.

I think he is saying this is what is likely to be seen during the Cuba Run. I don’t think that this was an appropriate place to do so if that was the intent, if not I apologize for my interpretation. I feel that a thread of the nature of trying to identify a potentially missing person at sea is not the place to make remarks about a future race. Once again if that’s not what the link was getting at I apologize.

That's what I thought too. Seriously, the people that called me were in fear of loss of life and with a boat that old and no racing history, I am using the only method I can think of to try to put a name in front of the CG. I hope it just blew off a beach somewhere in TX and made its way down there without losing its crew.

I'm thinking it might have been someone headed for Biloxi and they ran out of gas before they got to the spill <Wry Grin>

Nice to know that you all watch out for each other over there,
Have you heard anything yet?
I hope they (owners) are OK......

Foreshadowing the Cuba Run? RRRrreeeaaaalllllyyyyyy?

About 90 miles on a beach cat. Let's see, has that EVER been done before? Yeah, naw, those guys thinking about doing it must be nuts, right?

To those who have not done ~100 miles +, offshore, on a beach cat, well, sorry to be you.
