The very great Rock Hall Annual Regatta is coming up June 12 and 13th. The round the buoys regatta is preceded by the Run what you Brung Down the River Race on Friday the 11th. (Chesapeake Log Canoes to lasers) Go here to register today for both events!!!

On Line Registration and Who is Coming

The weekend regatta will serve as the A Class Regatta #3 for the Atlantic Coast Series, The F16 fleet already has a 5 boats fleet registered in open class. The Hobie 16's are expecting a 10 boat fleet along with a good Hobie 18 Class. Any beach cat is welcome

The regatta will also serve as The Wayfarer US Nationals, Lightning District Championships, and the Albacore Mid Atlantic's. Along with your standard Laser, 420, Hampton OD, Chesapeake 20 and Windmill classes plus something called the Rebel Class. All in all... they could get 100 boats this year on 3 or 4 race circles!

Cheap registration ends on Saturday, June 5th The registration site will also make sure your US Sailing Membership is up to date or tap you a few more bucks. As always... early registration makes the food purchase go well.

Rock Hall makes the pool and great camping facilities available with registration. Please purchase your meals and use the bar for all it's worth to support the Rock Hall Yacht club... that is where they make a few bucks to support the sailing program!

One final note for Catamaran racers: Rock Hall agreed to host the first Junior Olympic event for multi's in the US this year. They already have junior teams from Syracuse NY and Seattle WA coming into compete. If you talk to a club member please thank them for their support of catamaran racing!

Great regatta as usual. Not sure the 20+ Lightnings appreciated the multis on their course, but didn't hear of any inter-fleet incidents. In-fleet incidents were another matter, thanks to your's truly, but no real damage, thank goodness. Also dropped the mast again, but unfortunately no Nacra 20s to catch it this time :-(

Chessiephoto.com also has some proof shots of the regatta and the downriver race on their site. Props to Harry Murphey for his work in setting this up; the keg at the beach on Sat was a nice touch :-)

THAT was the bang we heard...

Hmm... the pin for the boom... goes into the mast base... the pin from the boom.... goes into the mast base.... (don't ask me how I know)

Two pins... bad idea... you forget to put one in....... pick the wrong one and it get's exciting... even if the mast is light... you never quite save it!
