Dear Fellow USF16 Members:
The 2011 USF16 Nationals have a new date, September 9-11, 2011, one week earlier.
My most sincere regrets for any inconvenience this causes but conditions beyond the host club's control has resulted in the this change of date. Specifically, the Chesapeake Bay Yacht Racing Association juggled the region's September 2011 schedule and created a significant conflict while also opening up the 2nd weekend in September. I have been assured that the new dates are firm and we should be able to safely proceed with our new schedule without any further conflicts.
This new date incorporates the weekend after Labor Day which means additional racing in the area exist Labor Day weekend and the weekend following the Nationals. Specifically, WRSC hosts a distance race to and from Annapolis on Friday, September 2nd. Each leg is approximately 12 mn with a casual lunch between legs. F16s can also secure a start during the club’s Labor Day weekend racing program on Saturday and/or Sunday if there is sufficient interest. Finally, the weekend following the USF16 Nationals is the premiere Chesapeake Bay fall distance race from Annapolis to Oxford (31 mn) and back with a night layover in Oxford, MD. Each day is scored separately and the host club in Oxford has a great reputation for good food, libations, and entertainment.
Finally, any teams heading north to the F18 North Americans after the USF16 Nationals should consider the Roton Point Sailing Association’s Annual Regatta in Rowayton, CT, September 17-18th.
Thanks in advance and with best regards,
Kris Hathaway
