Unregistered | I'm here on the course for the last day.
One point battle between 1st and second. Currently first place boat just in front of 2nd. They were in 6th and 7th though. Check mark's junior sailing on Chesapeake for scores. I'll be jumping in at the weather mark for pics.
Wind is 6-7 knots at 15-30 degrees. Right side crushed it the first leg. Leaders went left for second leg tied together. | | | Re: Junior Olympic update!

Trey and Erika win it tied with Matt at 16 points. Matt did hit a mark though and failed to do his turn. I have footage as I was filming from the mark in the water

Posts: 3,116 Annapolis, MD | Rock Hall organized a parade of Yacht clubs up the hill to the Flag pole and Olympic Torch lighting. All of the Yacht Clubs had their Club Burgee's on a flag pole and these were flown off of the club porch. The board and cat sailors were from many different clubs... So.... The board sailors carried a sail and rig over their heads... (quite nice for staying out of the rain)... the cat sailors flew the Hobie flying H for the weekend.
Our guys were very good... No Green fleet Opti's were found in the pool Sunday morning. (What's the world coming to?)

Posts: 699 SE Pa. or Chesapeak Bay | Hi,
It was a FANTASTIC event .... everyone in the Multihull community came together for this one .... FOR THE KIDS!!!
The HCA-NA supported the event in many ways ... flying Matt Bounds in to be the Pro .... covering the insurance for any "borrowed" boats ... supporting on Friday a seminar for the multihull youths w/ quest experts Wally Myers, Jimmy Glanden, Sue and Tom K and Matt Bounds ... (question: how many National Championships does that group have combined?????) .... including lunchs
Jill Nickerson arranged for JC to come north ... stopping at WRSC for their Junior Sailing Regatta ... then the JO's at RHYC ... now onto SSA, visiting the Junior Sailing programs at all these clubs and show-casing "Club Viper" to the junior sailors. And I did hear from many Opti and Laser junior sailors .... I want a Hobie .... I want a Viper ... as long as they want a Multihull!!!! I was on the windward mark boat on Saturday w/ Wally, and Sue K ... then again on Sunday w/ Sue and Tom K along w/ JC, who while we were passing out the lunches (on the water) during a short break they were further coaching the youths on boattrim and tactics. And I learned how a windward mark boat should really be operated w/ scoring sheets ... wind readings ... course/mark changes ....
Mark Schnieder was "key" in the clubhouse doing the scoring for the event w/ RHYC member Mrs Connie Ranney.
Now here was one of RHYC's missed detail .... no judge for a protest committee ... no protest committee even ... so who did they come and ask to man a protest committee ... the Multihullers!!!! Matt Bounds chaired both days w/ Bill Colgan as arbitrator ... and Tom K along w/ Wally filling out the committee. Thanks Guys ... big time
And the Multihull/Hobie youths were just, THE BEST!!!!! so we should say .... Fleet 204, 204, 204 .... fleet 250, 250, 250 ... Fleet 54,54 54 .... SandPoint, SandPoint, SandPoint .... as their conduct on and off the water was exemplitory !!!! in fact Trey James and Eric Raybon won the "Kindeness" Sportsmanship and Corinthian Sportsmanship Awards respectfully which are nomimated/voted/and awarded by the coaches and fellow competitors .....
A slightly well known sailor named Mr Gary Jobson came by and awarded the trophies to all the competitors .... so we have pic's of our Multihull/Hobie Youths recieving their awards from Gary Jobson !!!!!!! including Trey James and Erika Korzenieski recieving the impressive perpetual trophy for the EAST COAST YOUTH MULTIHULL CHAMPIONSHIP made by Mr Jimmy Glanden of locally harvested walnut and then handturned ...
So thanks to the members of Div11 ... the HCA-NA ... US Sailing ... Fun in the Sun ... Wally, Jimmy, Matt, the Korz's, the Raybons, the Flannigans, Caleb Tarlton, Mark Schnieder and many others ...
Now guys comes the tough part ... to repeat it next year ... so lets make sure we get our youths trained ... ask our local sailing organization if our youths can compete in the local junior sailing events .... and we adults ... volunteer, volunteer, volunteer

Posts: 3,116 Annapolis, MD | Full Results for the Chesapeake JO's We are starting now to line up a Junior Olympics next year. The event rotates on the Chesapeake and some clubs might not be able to handle the Cats and Boards. Others just have old bias's or don't want any more challenges. Any questions a Yacht Club might have in hosting Cats and Boards next year can be answered by Rock Hall's Team. The Chesapeake Clubs saw how the event can be safely managed. There are LOTS of questions to field. The Board Coach was asked by some parents... Do you have rules?... How do you race? Is it like Opti racing?... Their top gun is off to Singapore for the ISAF youth Worlds and was a top Opti sailor from Norfolk. I dealt with questions about the cats like... aren't they dangerous? All can be managed and the Yacht Clubs want to be part of the future of the sport. So my advice... get involved, recruit kids to our niche of the game.
